Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiac Short Stay

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model.
• Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making skills to manage patients with pacemakers, chest tubes, and tracheotomies.
• Ensure all practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Participate in continuous professional development and lifelong learning to meet the needs of a specialized cardiac patient population.
• Perform reflective practice to evaluate nursing knowledge and modify practice to improve patient care quality.
• Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team including physicians and acute care nurse practitioners.

Requirements

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a variety of patient care teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in cardiac surgery.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N) degree.
• Demonstrated evidence of ongoing education in cardiac nursing.
