Registered Nurse Assistant Manager

Responsibilities

• Support the Nurse Manager in supervising nursing staff and daily nursing operations
• Coordinate staffing, daily assignments, and coverage planning
• Oversee initial medical screenings and timely referrals to licensed practitioners
• Ensure completion of health assessments and follow-up care for chronic conditions
• Triage and document patient requests for healthcare services via electronic health records
• Coordinate care with physicians, behavioral health, and dental staff
• Respond to medical emergencies, including CPR and stabilization
• Manage medical transfer information and continuity of care
• Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities
• Implement culturally competent and trauma-informed care practices
• Maintain accurate and secure medical documentation
• Support staff orientation and emergency readiness training

Requirements

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Texas (or ability to obtain one)
• Graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work in a detention or correctional healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and performing CPR
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency requirement
• Ability to pass a medical examination and background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in detention/correctional healthcare settings
• Proficiency in Spanish
