About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide nutritional consultation and independently screen patients for nutritional intervention
- Collect and interpret patient health data for in-depth assessment and ongoing monitoring
- Establish priorities, strategies, and interventions to contribute to individualized treatment programs
- Foster a culture of safety by minimizing patient harm and communicating safety concerns
- Collaborate with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes
- Perform additional duties such as mentoring dietetic students, implementing medical directives, and conducting practice-based research
Requirements
- Masters degree in Nutrition or a Bachelors degree with a post-graduate dietetic internship
- Successful completion of an accredited practical dietetic training program
- Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and medical software
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to function in an independent, self-directed manner
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) designation
- Experience with Diabetes Education, insulin adjustment, and insulin pumps
- Experience with Type 1 diabetes
- Experience supervising dietetic students or interns
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada
