Registered Dietitian

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional consultation and independently screen patients for nutritional intervention
• Collect and interpret patient health data for in-depth assessment and ongoing monitoring
• Establish priorities, strategies, and interventions to contribute to individualized treatment programs
• Foster a culture of safety by minimizing patient harm and communicating safety concerns
• Mentor dietetic students and implement pertinent medical directives
• Complete administrative responsibilities and conduct practice-based research as required

Requirements

• Masters or Bachelors in Nutrition (with post-graduate dietetic internship)
• Successful completion of an accredited practical dietetic training program
• Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) designation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical software
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to function in an independent, self-directed manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Diabetes Education, insulin adjustment, and insulin pumps
• Experience in out-patient clinical settings
• Experience with Type 1 diabetes
• Experience supervising dietetic students or interns
• Membership with Dietitians of Canada
