Regional Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering analysis to deliver robust, cost-effective automation and machine systems to manufacturing plants.
• Lead APAC project teams to track and solve automation system and equipment-related problems.
• Define and document equipment design specifications and develop design concepts.
• Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Participate in system integration, installation, debugging, and production start-up.
• Conduct proof of concept tests, collect data, and make engineering recommendations.
• Travel occasionally to Corning plants and vendor locations for process development and improvement projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of project leadership experience.
• BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Aeronautic, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of international project experience involving new product development and automation equipment.
• 3+ years of experience in cable assembly or optical communication industries.
• Proficiency in mechanical design tools and solid modeling (e.g., Solidworks, Pro-E, Inventor).
• Fluency in English (both oral and written).
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fixture and tooling design.
• CAD/CAM capability, specifically for CNC applications.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and commercial standard parts (mechanical and sensing).
• Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods such as milling, turning, grinding, and sheet metal.
• Six Sigma or formal project management certification.
