Regional Patient Advocate

Responsibilities

• Screen patients at medical facilities for eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs
• Initiate the application process bedside whenever possible to assist patients with their needs
• Provide regular progress reports and information to client contacts
• Travel within an assigned region to provide coverage for onsite representatives
• Document screening results in hospital computer systems and internal reporting tools
• Maintain professional relationships with hospital staff across all departments
• Conduct outside field work, including patient home visits, as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation for travel to multiple local facilities and home visits
• Basic personal computer skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a busy medical environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding
• Experience with government or hospital eligibility programs
• Previous experience in a clinical or medical setting
