Regional Industry Director, FIG, Europe

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) strategy and priorities in Europe to drive business growth and sustainable developmental impact.
• Lead and grow the FIG business, ensuring profitable origination and high-quality portfolio oversight across sub-sectors like banking, microfinance, and capital markets.
• Chair Investment Review Meetings and make critical decisions regarding IFC investments in the region.
• Manage key client and government relationships, representing IFC to public sector institutions, MDBs, donors, and investors.
• Oversee Upstream and Advisory engagements and collaborate with WBG partners to develop regional sector strategies.
• Supervise FIG Managers and lead large, dispersed, multicultural teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Requirements

• Master's degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in economics, finance, or business.
• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in the financial sector.
• Proven track record in investment decision-making, including credit, legal, and environmental/social assessments.
• Extensive expertise in financial sector institutions and markets, including capital markets and fintech.
• Demonstrated experience leading large, dispersed teams in dynamic, multicultural environments.
• Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to think strategically, manage ambiguity, and deliver results under high-pressure conditions.
