About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to directors and regional teams to align HR initiatives with conservation goals
- Manage HR operations across the Americas, including onboarding, offboarding, and HRIS management
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations in the U.S., Latin America, and Canada
- Promote an inclusive, mission-driven workplace culture and provide guidance on employee relations
- Oversee regional benefits administration, payroll coordination, and compensation structures
- Partner with hiring managers to recruit diverse talent and support workforce planning
- Facilitate cross-cultural communication between global HQ and regional field teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or NGO environment
- Proven experience supporting multi-country teams across the Americas
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR practices in the U.S. and Latin America
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Legal work authorization in the United States or Costa Rica
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in conservation, environmental, or international development sectors
- SHRM certification or a relevant Master's degree
- Experience supporting field-based or remote teams in challenging environments
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to support organizational needs
