Refrigeration Utilities Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the ammonia refrigeration system and other utility systems (compressed air, boilers, steam, glycol, etc.) to ensure production efficiency.
• Perform preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on mechanical, electrical, and process components.
• Conduct required inspections, including Maintenance Tracking Sheet (MTS) and IIAR Bulletin 109 inspections for ammonia systems.
• Monitor equipment to anticipate needs and address utility support calls in a timely manner.
• Ensure all work areas and tools comply with GMP standards and company food safety policies.
• Maintain accurate records of all equipment repairs, parts, and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical schematics.
• Basic PC skills for record keeping and reporting.
• Ability to work the night shift and handle multiple complex tasks.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications

• RETA certification (CIRO or CARO).
• Hazmat Certification.
• 5+ years of experience with Ammonia Refrigeration.
• 2+ years of experience with Boilers and Compressed Air systems.
