Refrigeration Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including large rack systems, split systems, blast chillers, and cooling towers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on HVAC and ancillary equipment to ensure system reliability.
• Lead root cause analysis for major downtime events and act as a technical escalation point for lower-level technicians.
• Mentor maintenance personnel on refrigeration processes, tools, and techniques to develop their skill sets.
• Document all work and maintenance activities within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Repair and maintain CO2 and Freon systems, including compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and glycol systems.
• Audit both internal maintenance work and external vendor performance to ensure quality and SLA compliance.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of industrial refrigeration repair and maintenance experience.
• Advanced understanding of rack system refrigeration and associated equipment.
• Current EPA Section 608 certification.
• Proven experience with electrical systems, including single and three-phase motor systems and low voltage controls.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, and walking on roofs.
• Ability to travel up to 10% for business purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with networked refrigeration controls platforms.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety regulations (OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT).
• Experience with glycol systems, heat exchangers, and water chiller systems.
