Refrigeration Technician

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate process refrigeration systems, including start-up and shut-down procedures
• Perform shutdown maintenance and emergency response for process refrigeration machines
• Manage the transfer of refrigerants (ammonia and CFCs) and oils in compliance with environmental regulations
• Respond to and mitigate leaks on machines containing ammonia
• Read and interpret P&IDs and electrical control diagrams
• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance using unit readings and SKF software
• Write Level 2 work plans for ammonia-related tasks on process refrigeration machines

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial or commercial large tonnage refrigeration systems
• 3 years of experience maintaining industrial or commercial refrigeration control systems
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical school certification, or military technical expertise
• 24 Hour Haz-Mat Certification
• Experience with Screw Compressor Refrigeration (ammonia & CFC) or Absorption Refrigeration Units (ARUs)
• Ability to troubleshoot analog, pneumatic, micro-processor, and computer-based issues
• Federal EPA Refrigerant Certification (Type 2, Type 3, or Universal)
• Knowledge of SAP and 5S/lean manufacturing methodologies
