Refrigeration Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting on commercial refrigeration systems, including mechanical, electrical, and microprocessor-controlled components.
• Execute routine preventive maintenance, leak detection, and system performance evaluations on supermarket refrigeration, walk-in coolers, and rack systems.
• Provide accurate service documentation, including detailed notes, photos, and materials used for all assigned work orders.
• Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and union jobsite requirements.
• Deliver professional service while interacting with customers and fellow personnel on job sites.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedules and travel to job sites within the assigned service area.

Requirements

• EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Valid state driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of refrigeration principles.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays in accordance with union work rules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with commercial supermarket refrigeration, warehouse refrigeration, or large-scale cooling systems.
• Knowledge of electronic control systems such as Novar, CPC, or Danfoss.
• Familiarity with rack controllers, defrost systems, and advanced refrigeration diagnostics.
