About the role

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical equipment failures on refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Install and commission new University HVAC machinery, including heat pumps and air conditioners
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair data center cooling, environmental chambers, and lab equipment
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and operating manuals for installation and repair
  • Test and optimize equipment performance to ensure efficient operation after repairs
  • Act as a trainer and mentor for apprentices
  • Follow all maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory codes and WorkSafe regulations

Requirements

  • Red Seal or BCTQ Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification
  • 3-5 years of related experience in an industrial setting
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of mechanical trades practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize workloads

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in the safe utilization of power and hand tools
