About the role
Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical equipment failures on refrigeration and air conditioning systems
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Install and commission new University HVAC machinery, including heat pumps and air conditioners
- Maintain, calibrate, and repair data center cooling, environmental chambers, and lab equipment
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and operating manuals for installation and repair
- Test and optimize equipment performance to ensure efficient operation after repairs
- Act as a trainer and mentor for apprentices
- Follow all maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory codes and safety regulations
Requirements
- Red Seal or BCTQ Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification
- 3-5 years of related experience in an industrial setting
- Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license
- Strong troubleshooting skills and thorough knowledge of mechanical trades practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of the safe utilization of power and hand tools
Preferred Qualifications
- 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate
