Refrigerants Applications R&D Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform theoretical and experimental evaluations of refrigeration and HVAC systems using current and next-generation refrigerants.
• Develop work plans, scopes, and realistic timetables for modeling and experimental evaluations.
• Ensure technical rigor and alignment with project and business strategic goals.
• Participate in the development of next-generation refrigerants to ensure compatibility with HVAC components like heat exchangers and compressors.
• Represent Orbia in HVAC industry bodies, serving as the lead for ASHRAE technical committee participation.
• Collaborate with the applications director and commercial teams to understand customer needs in the refrigeration and HVAC sectors.
• Maintain exemplary safety, health, and environmental performance in all experimental activities.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of engineering or science experience (research experience related to thermal systems obtained during graduate studies will be considered).
• In-depth understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and the behavior of thermal systems.
• Advanced modeling or simulation experience.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Proven track record of performing research within the Refrigeration, HVAC, or thermal management industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD degree in a relevant engineering or science field.
