Reference and Instruction Librarian

Responsibilities

• Serve as Department Head, providing leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for departmental services, personnel, and daily operations.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate department faculty and staff.
• Plan, teach, and assess information literacy instruction in collaboration with faculty across all teaching modalities.
• Provide in-person and virtual research and reference services to students and faculty.
• Develop digital and print-based instructional materials, including reference guides and instruction videos.
• Manage collection development for assigned academic programs and recommend appropriate library materials and databases.
• Act as a liaison to academic departments to strengthen course-integrated library instruction.
• Coordinate scheduling and coverage for reference, instruction, and service points.

Requirements

• Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• 5+ years of experience working in a reference or instruction department.
• Proven experience providing reference services for online programs.
• Extensive experience working with various library resources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with assessment strategies.
• Proficiency with Springshare software.
