Red Hat System Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) across cluster nodes.
• Apply OS patches, security updates, and OpenShift version upgrades in a controlled, low-downtime manner.
• Manage node lifecycle operations including cordoning, draining, reboots, and scaling.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Dell server hardware, including firmware updates (iDRAC), RAID controllers, and network interfaces.
• Support IBM Watson deployments (IBM Cloud Pak for Data) running on OpenShift, including operator health and application pods.
• Manage persistent storage such as ODF/Ceph, NFS, or SAN-attached storage.
• Monitor cluster health using Prometheus/Grafana and respond to alerts.
• Document cluster architecture, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in production.
• Solid experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform administration.
• Experience with bare-metal server hardware administration (e.g., Dell PowerEdge).
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals, including pods, deployments, and persistent volumes.
• Experience supporting private/on-premises data center or colocation environments.
• Proficiency in Linux networking, including firewalls, VLANs, and DNS.
• Understanding of enterprise storage concepts (SAN/NAS, Ceph/ODF).

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data, IBM Watson, or IBM Fusion.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
• Experience using Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Familiarity with IBM Storage Fusion or similar hyper-converged infrastructure.
