Recycling Technician

Responsibilities

• Support the campus-wide recycling program for solid waste to reduce the college's carbon footprint
• Maintain interior and exterior recycling stations to ensure they are clean and presentable
• Manage the pickup and disposal of cardboard from trash holding areas across campus
• Coordinate with event set-up teams to ensure recycling receptacles are available at all campus events
• Conduct regular inspections and observations to ensure quality control and productivity of recycling operations
• Assist with student volunteer events and the implementation of various sustainability initiatives
• Notify the Grounds Supervisor regarding any necessary operational changes

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in facilities management or a college campus environment
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license
• Proficiency in email systems such as Outlook or Lotus Notes
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively within a diverse community
• Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, and lift/move up to 40 pounds unassisted

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer software skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
• Demonstrated interest in recycling and environmental sustainability
