Recreation Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Recreation Therapists to design and implement therapeutic recreation programs
• Execute recreation participation programs tailored to patient interests and needs
• Contribute to intervention plans and report significant patient changes to the therapy team
• Provide supervision to volunteers, high school co-op students, and college placement students
• Maintain accurate recreation therapy records, including statistics, program descriptions, and evaluations
• Manage program requirements such as facilities, budgets, equipment, and supplies
• Prepare administrative materials including posters, expense forms, and activity calendars
• Participate in interprofessional team meetings and contribute to person-centered practices

Requirements

• College diploma in Recreation Leadership, Recreation Therapy, or a related discipline
• 1–2 years of experience in recreation or activation specifically with adult populations
• Proven experience in the delivery of recreation programs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team environment
