Recreation Therapist

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients and plan individual and group interventions
• Collaborate in an inter-professional environment to provide patient-focused care
• Contribute to the conceptualization, planning, and development of recreation programs
• Plan, implement, and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation interventions
• Comply with patient safety responsibilities and hospital policies to ensure a safe environment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure studies (with emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation) or a related field such as Kinesiology, Psychology, or Health Studies
• Post-diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the practice of Therapeutic Recreation
• Membership in a professional Therapeutic Recreation association (Provincial, National, State, or International)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support – Level C, Healthcare Provider certification
• Strong organizational, communication, and independent working skills
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the job
