About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement sports, general recreation, and arts-based day camp programming.
  • Foster partnerships with local community groups to promote recreational and camp programming.
  • Provide leadership for daily camp operations, including music, sports, and arts & crafts activities.
  • Supervise and mentor day camp staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality programming.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all children and youth participants.
  • Manage the purchasing, organization, and maintenance of camp equipment and materials.
  • Handle registration inquiries and resolve issues via email, telephone, and in-person communication.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain accurate incident reports and documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a summer camp leadership role.
  • Proven experience supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Current valid Standard First Aid + CPR & AED (Intermediate First Aid) certification, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer communication skills, including video editing capabilities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 29 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending and stooping.
  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs Program eligibility (typically aged 20-30, Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person).
  • Ability to pass a Police Record Check with a vulnerable sector check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary coursework or education.
  • Experience working within a faith-based or community-focused organization.
