About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct records inventories and assessments across business units to identify and document holdings
  • Classify and categorize physical, electronic, and hybrid records in alignment with approved schedules
  • Interview stakeholders to assess records creation, usage, storage, retention, and disposition practices
  • Analyze records to determine retention schedules, vital records status, and confidentiality levels
  • Prepare detailed deliverables including assessment reports, gap analyses, and lifecycle management recommendations
  • Maintain records inventory databases, metadata, and tracking tools to ensure accuracy
  • Support records cleanup, digitization, migration, and disposition initiatives
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on proper records handling and compliance requirements
  • Perform Electronic Information System (EIS) records assessments and ensure protection of PII

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of additional professional experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience in records and information management or information governance
  • Knowledge of records lifecycle management, retention scheduling, and inventory methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust clearance
  • Ability to work onsite at client sites in Bethesda or Gaithersburg, MD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal or public sector records management programs
  • Familiarity with NARA guidelines or the Federal Records Act
  • Experience with enterprise content management (ECM) or records management systems
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Records Manager (CRM) or Information Governance Professional (IGP)
