About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients and visitors, providing a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming phone calls, connecting callers to appropriate departments and taking messages.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments for program applicants and manage rescheduling for no-shows.
  • Explain agency programs, intake procedures, and eligibility requirements to potential applicants.
  • Perform clerical duties including managing faxes, monitoring office supplies, and maintaining appointment logs.
  • Assist with outreach duties via phone or in the field as required.
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality and professional boundaries in accordance with agency policy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of experience in social/community services, customer service, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic office software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, math, and data entry skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry heavy items.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a receptionist or scheduling appointments in a busy office setting.
  • Experience serving the elderly, disabled, or low-income populations.
  • Ability to speak a second language.
