Realtime Lighting Technical Director

Responsibilities

• Work closely with CG Supervisor to create compelling lighting solutions in Unreal Engine
• Set up, adjust, and refine lighting rigs, post-process effects, and shading to match live-action plates or concept art
• Utilize Unreal Engine’s lighting tools, including Lumen and Path Tracing
• Optimize lighting setups for real-time rendering using CVARs
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of CG elements
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical lighting challenges

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in lighting for real-time environments, feature films, television, or high-end commercials
• Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 lighting and rendering workflows
• Virtual Art Department experience
• Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows and real-time shading
• Experience with dynamic, static, and hybrid lighting solutions
• Ability to take direction and iterate based on feedback
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Unreal Engine Blueprints and material systems
• Experience with Python or Blueprint scripting
• Experience with compositing software like Nuke
• Experience with Arnold, Houdini, or Maya
• AAA gaming experience
• Houdini or USD skills
