Real Estate Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Support the core and structured mortgage loan origination process through economic, borrower, and market analysis
• Review, quote, negotiate, and underwrite new loan opportunities in collaboration with originators
• Perform lease reviews and prepare comprehensive committee presentations
• Assist in closing new loan transactions by reviewing third-party reports and procuring necessary documentation
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with mortgage brokers, borrowers, and industry leaders
• Collaborate with Loan Servicing, Portfolio Analytics, and Asset Management teams to monitor the existing loan portfolio

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Real Estate, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in the commercial real estate field
• Direct experience in the analysis and origination of core and structured commercial mortgage loan transactions
• Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong presentation abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA with a concentration in a related field
• Experience in life insurance company mortgage lending
• CRI or CFA designation
