R&D Technician

Responsibilities

• Fabricate prototypes and operate systems in close collaboration with engineering
• Improve designs through rapid iteration to refine manufacturing techniques
• Participate in design reviews to provide input on manufacturability and resources
• Autonomously spec, source, and commission equipment
• Support critical system testing and validation efforts, including potential off-site travel
• Build, lead, and mentor a team of quality-focused technicians
• Develop and document best practices for machining, fabrication, assembly, and quality inspection
• Identify and resolve technical challenges through continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• 5+ years in a high-performance manufacturing or R&D environment
• Experience in fabrication, machining, welding, or pneumatic/hydraulic systems
• Deep understanding of aerospace-grade production and quality standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Experience developing complex systems and manufacturing processes from scratch
• Experience in aerospace, nuclear, defense, or advanced manufacturing industries
• Knowledge of materials science, precision machining, and quality inspection
• Hands-on experience with fluid, gas, or high-voltage systems
• Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and manufacturing planning systems
• Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
