R&D Manager - Electrical Surety Analysis

Responsibilities

• Lead the Electrical Surety Analysis (ESA) Department in applying modeling and analysis tools to characterize high-consequence nuclear deterrence systems.
• Guide departmental work, establish priorities, and ensure standard methodologies for modeling and simulation, including Verification and Validation.
• Manage organizational budgets, staffing plans, and Work Package Agreements to meet customer needs and deliverables.
• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with critical partners across the laboratory to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Champion staff development through hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance management.
• Identify innovative approaches and continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the quality and impact of departmental products.
• Manage a Classified Workstation and specialized IT assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and eight (8) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Ability to obtain Sigma 14/15 access.
• Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
• Graduate degree (MS or Ph.D.) in science or engineering.
• Experience in a nuclear weapons-related organization.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit and electromagnetic modeling and simulation techniques.
• Proven track record of building and advancing high-performing teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for delivering technical presentations and reports.
