About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage R&D lab consumable inventory, including warehouse organization and offsite storage.
  • Procure necessary supplies and reagents in a timely manner to prevent laboratory downtime.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for services such as medical waste disposal, liquid nitrogen, and purified water systems.
  • Maintain equipment records in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and perform scheduled calibrations.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for lab alarms, facility monitoring systems, and troubleshooting equipment or computer issues.
  • Partner with EHS to promote laboratory safety, conduct inspections, and manage chemical inventories.
  • Support lab workflow by performing reagent and sample preparation as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biotechnology or a related field; or an Associate degree with 2 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant laboratory or operations experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with common laboratory and scientific instrumentation terminology.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work onsite in San Diego, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with lab management, SAP, or CMMS.
  • Experience with inventory management systems such as Kanban.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation including real-time PCR platforms, centrifuges, and robotics.
  • High mechanical aptitude and extensive knowledge of common laboratory chemicals.
