R&D Engineering Technician

Responsibilities

• Assemble, wire, and bring up robotic systems and subsystems including actuation and perception hardware
• Execute test plans and procedures developed by engineers, collecting and organizing test data
• Build, maintain, and improve test fixtures and jigs
• Use standard diagnostic equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers to triage and debug issues
• Support cross-disciplinary triage across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software systems
• Document build logs, write standard operating procedures, and surface process improvements
• Perform soldering, crimping, rework, and light fabrication to support prototyping and repair
• Maintain lab equipment, tools, inventory, and consumables to ensure a safe and organized workspace
• Use basic Python scripting to run test routines or parse data

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and testing robots or complex electromechanical systems
• Ability to read and work from schematics, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
• Proficiency with soldering, crimping, hand tools, and basic mechanical/electrical fabrication
• Familiarity with standard diagnostic tools including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
• Strong, detail-oriented record-keeping and documentation skills
• Comfort working in a fast-moving prototype environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, USB, or MIPI
• Hands-on experience with actuators, cameras, and microcontrollers
• Soldering and rework experience to IPC standards
• Comfort using agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex)
• Prior experience working in a robotics startup
