R&D Engineer

Responsibilities

• Debug defects in the ANSYS Workbench codebase by tracing issues through C# and .NET components
• Triage incoming issues to determine severity and priority for resolution
• Set up and configure local development environments and learn build/deployment pipelines
• Contribute to the Workbench platform by writing and testing code for new features
• Collaborate daily with the Waterloo-based team through pairing and code reviews
• Work across backend systems and UI components to understand application interactions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Solid experience with desktop software development in the Microsoft .NET environment
• Proficiency in C# for building and maintaining applications
• Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques in Visual Studio or similar IDEs
• Ability to read and understand existing codebases, trace logic, and identify root causes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python and Angular
• Exposure to C++
