R&D Chemist I

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the assessment, development, and reformulation of products through chemical studies and experimental analysis.
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments using known principles and procedures.
• Organize materials and tools by gathering ingredients and preparing raw materials for application processes.
• Maintain a traceable history of analysis to ensure data accessibility and understanding.
• Manage workload through careful planning, execution, and documentation of results.
• Comply with all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area in line with 5S lab requirements.
• Make technical recommendations to R&D leadership and peers regarding product improvement and validation methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related Science field.
• 1-2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of paint formulating and raw materials evaluations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong statistical analysis skills for method development.
• Basic mathematics skills, including proficiency in conversions.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of formulating experience in Coatings.
• Knowledge of color work.
• Broad awareness of the paint industry, including technology trends and competitor products.
