Rating Analyst

Responsibilities

• Lead credit analysis for local government issuers, including cities, counties, school districts, and special districts
• Prepare well-supported rating recommendations and clear rating reports for rating committees
• Conduct in-depth research and detailed financial statement analysis to evaluate fiscal health and credit risk
• Serve as an active voting member of the rating committee to deliberate on rating outcomes
• Publish timely credit reports and contribute to relevant research pieces and publications
• Maintain strong knowledge of ratings criteria and municipal bond market trends

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required (Master's in business, public policy, or public administration preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in Public Finance
• Strong credit analysis and financial statement analysis capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Local Government sector
• Proven ability to advise on complex local government finance issues
• Experience building relationships across diverse teams and functions
• Ability to adopt evolving analytical workflows, including AI-human collaborative processes
