About the role
Responsibilities
- Execute the movement of railcars, including planning and coordination between manufacturing locations, storage yards, and customers
- Maintain target levels for loaded and empty railcars in accordance with manufacturing, supply, and demand
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to meet inbound railcar needs and safety stocks
- Coordinate and schedule railcars by ordering from serving yards and assigning them to specific loading racks
- Execute shipments of loaded and empty railcars, including hazardous materials, between plants and storage facilities
- Ensure railcars crossing international borders have cleared customs processes
- Maintain proactive relationships with local railroad contacts, plant switching operators, and supply chain personnel
- Mitigate local service issues and escalate disruptions or master data issues through proper channels
- Manage local inventory of railcars to meet loading requirements and car count thresholds
- Generate and verify billing for loaded and empty railcars via SAP or railroad websites
- Process One Time Movement Authority (OTMA) documentation to the FRA
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in rail operations or logistics coordination
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of rail industry regulations and safety standards
- Ability to work a rotational schedule, including required weekend and holiday coverage
- Ability to provide after-hours support as needed for continuous operations and emergencies
- Strong attention to detail in a high-stakes operations environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field
