About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive radiation safety program from scratch
- Supervise monitoring and assessment of radiation levels throughout the facility
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards
- Ensure compliance with NRC, OSHA, EPA, and state-specific guidelines
- Provide technical expertise on radiation safety infrastructure and radioactive materials handling
- Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure, safety inspections, and compliance documentation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies
- Investigate and report radiation incidents and implement corrective measures
Requirements
- Experience with MCNP and/or NOVICE software for radiation shielding design
- 5+ years of experience with radiation production technologies requiring prompt radiation shielding
- 3+ years of experience working with or overseeing H3 (tritium) gas storage, implementation, and waste management
- 5+ years operating under a limited scope license or 3+ years as an RSO under a broad scope license
- Experience with Broad Scope license application and renewal processes in California
- Ability to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual)
