About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform smear surveys, direct frisk surveys, airborne radioactivity monitoring, and routine operational checks of RP instruments
  • Conduct radiological surveys for cylinder receipt, storage, inspection, maintenance, and movement
  • Prepare survey maps, logs, turnover notes, and deficiency reports
  • Support radiological response to alarms, spills, contamination events, and personnel incidents
  • Provide daily job safety oversight and ensure proper postings and boundary controls
  • Contribute technical input for SOP and training material development
  • Assist with cylinder movement, inspections, sampling, and yard maintenance
  • Implement contamination controls and maintain survey records supporting release decisions
  • Support ALARA reviews, pre-job briefings, and work package reviews

Requirements

  • Qualified through a documented Radiation Protection Technician training and qualification program
  • Familiarity with portable radiation survey instrumentation and ANSI standards
  • Ability to qualify for respiratory protection duties
  • Ability to complete hazardous materials transportation training
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in fuel-cycle facilities, DOE sites, commercial nuclear operations, uranium handling, or industrial radiological control
  • Demonstrated competency in creating clear documentation
  • Experience supporting procedure development and feedback processes
  • Background providing daily job safety oversight in radiological environments
