Radiation Control Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide radiological support in workplace surveillance, monitoring, and analysis/interpretation of radiological data
• Deliver operational health physics support across assigned facilities and functions
• Support and oversee high-hazard radiological work activities
• Ensure compliance with radiation protection standards, procedures, and 10 CFR 835 requirements
• Review radiological work plans to ensure proper controls and compliance
• Interface with emergency personnel and respond to radiological or radioactive material incidents
• Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to junior technicians
• Collaborate with Health Physicists to ensure appropriate safety measures
• Assume field leadership responsibilities and direct other RCTs as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance
• Ability to meet DOE Order 426.2 requirements
• Strong understanding of radiological control principles and 10 CFR 835 regulations
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and 24/7 coverage
• Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry up to 35 lbs
• Ability to wear PPE, including respiratory protection
