Radiation & Contamination Monitor

Responsibilities

• Perform radiation checks and decontamination of facilities and equipment as required
• Conduct source checks for low-level alarms, hand and foot monitors, and contamination monitors
• Ensure all radiation and contamination equipment is properly calibrated
• Monitor the movement of active packages and waste into and out of production facilities
• Read and accurately record radiation dosimeter results
• Report unusual radiation, contamination, or safety conditions to supervisors
• Provide guidance to Decontamination Operators and Helpers
• Maintain Process Control Records and perform housekeeping in assigned areas

Requirements

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Decontamination Operator
• Familiarity with radiation detection instruments and decontamination/disposal techniques
• Knowledge of radiation hazards and safety control procedures
• Ability to wear a respirator for several hours at a time
• Ability to lift and carry up to 5 kgs frequently
• Ability to push/pull carts with a force of up to 25kgs occasionally
• Must be able to complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)
• Successful completion of vision and hearing screenings as a pre-employment condition

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) environment
• Strong competency in responding quickly to emergency situations
