R&D Undergraduate Intern - Bioscience

Responsibilities

• Conduct R&D research under the mentorship of Sandia technical staff
• Perform microbial cell culture (primarily yeast and fungi), sample collection, and phenotyping
• Execute DNA and RNA extraction and molecular biology assays
• Utilize flow cytometry and synthetic biology techniques
• Analyze and present experimental data to the multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• Enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program
• Pursuing a major in science, engineering, or math
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship not provided)
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with laboratory work, including aseptic technique and preparing buffers/solutions
• Completion of entry-level biology and chemistry coursework
• Strong communication skills and the ability to organize and present scientific results
• Experience in molecular biology or cell culture
