About the role
Responsibilities
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components for drones and public safety products
- Conduct experiments and performance tests, collecting and analyzing data to support R&D initiatives
- Collaborate closely with engineers to refine prototypes, provide feedback, and iterate on designs
- Operate and maintain lab equipment, tools, and test rigs to support development efforts
- Document test results, procedures, and findings to improve product design and reliability
- Assist with component fabrication using techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and soldering
- Support field testing, including setup, monitoring, and data collection
- Ensure safety protocols and best practices are followed in all R&D activities
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a hardware R&D or prototyping environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting techniques
- Proficiency with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Knowledge of material properties, adhesives, and fasteners for hardware development
- Experience with environmental and stress testing for ruggedized hardware
