R&D Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead a Product Realization Team (PRT) to design, produce, and integrate critical components for the W80-5 warhead shipping configuration
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the design, production, or qualification of components
• Develop innovative design concepts through requirements negotiation, trade studies, and virtual prototyping
• Mature designs to a production-ready state through iterative design-build-test cycles
• Define test activities to demonstrate robustness across various environments and assembly levels
• Manage project budgets and schedules using earned value management
• Mentor and train less experienced engineers within the multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
• Five (5) years of directly relevant experience in engineering or research and development
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or equivalent) required to start
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field
• Experience working with the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) or related national laboratories
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary product teams
• Expertise in computer-aided design (CAD), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes
• Experience in the design, qualification, and production of Nuclear Deterrence components
