R&D Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and qualify highly integrated electro-mechanical telemetry products for national security applications
• Conduct full product environmental testing, including shock, vibration, temperature, pressure, and humidity
• Perform and analyze finite element analysis (FEA) simulations for stress, strain, modal, and thermal environments
• Utilize CREO and PDMLink to design and model telemetry hardware
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document system requirements and establish engineering priorities
• Manage fabrication processes and work with vendors to procure development parts
• Create and authorize product drawings using GD&T per ANSI Y14.5

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline
• At least five years of directly relevant engineering experience
• Active DOE L-level security clearance (or equivalent) to start, with the ability to obtain a DOE Q-level clearance
• Proficiency in CAD software (CREO preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with mechanical testing and data analysis
• Experience designing for manufacturing processes such as machined aluminum, sheet metal, and 3D printing (FDM)

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field
• Experience with product realization within the NNSA complex
• Demonstrated experience designing, testing, or fabricating aerospace hardware
• Experience developing test plans for validation or verification of requirement sets
• Previous experience in leadership or mentorship roles
