Quantum Scientist

Responsibilities

• Develop calibration and compilation approaches and pipelines for machine programmability
• Collaborate with customers and application developers on pilot projects to showcase and benchmark machines
• Support the bring-up of the first Gemini machine in Tsukuba, Japan
• Assist with integration and testing of quantum computing services
• Support product launches for cloud and on-premise quantum computing services
• Monitor system performance and operations, including incident response

Requirements

• Ph.D. in experimental AMO physics or a related field
• Hands-on experience building or operating neutral atom, trapped ion, or other quantum hardware platforms
• Practical experience with gate-based quantum computers is a major asset
• Proven research success via peer-reviewed publications or scientific talks
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate customer needs into products
• Software programming skills and basic software understanding
• Experience mentoring or training scientists
• Ability to provide on-call support for machines and services
• Ability to travel periodically to machine locations
