Quantum Device Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and fabricate silicon-based spin-qubit devices using state-of-the-art nanofabrication tools
• Develop process flows and refine recipes for complex multi-layer thin-film stacks and semiconductor heterostructures
• Identify process bottlenecks and implement structured process control methodologies to improve yield
• Perform structural characterisation using optical microscopy, SEM, and AFM
• Execute transport experiments to validate device functionality at room temperature and under cryogenic conditions
• Collaborate with theorists, physicists, and systems engineers to translate requirements into hardware solutions

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science
• 5+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience
• Expertise in Electron-beam lithography (EBL) or photolithography
• Experience with thin-film deposition (evaporation, sputtering, ALD) and etching processes
• Experience with semiconductor processing, preferably silicon-based platforms
• Ability to design and iterate nanoscale device structures independently
• Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with low-temperature measurements using cryostats or dilution refrigerators
• Knowledge of transport measurements, charge sensing, or RF reflectometry
• Track record of scientific impact through publications or patents
• Ability to build systems and processes from scratch in a fast-paced environment
