Quality Tool Design Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, and equipment to support manufacturing processes.
• Utilize CAD software extensively to design welding, machining, and assembly fixtures.
• Perform design reviews and conduct tool tryouts to diagnose and remedy dimensional or operational problems.
• Create detailed 2D prints and modeling for all tool components.
• Apply algebraic and geometric formulas to develop tool configurations and ensure close tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics and manufacturing procedures.
• Plan inspection procedures and implement statistical process control and geometric tolerancing.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, including kaizens and quality improvement projects.
• Maintain safety standards, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to EH&S policies.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in mathematical calculations and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to perform light physical effort, including occasionally lifting or moving average weight materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of experience in designing fixtures, tool/die sets, and generating blueprints.
• Experience with Creo CAD software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
• Post-secondary education in industrial design or a related field.
