About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) for an FAA Part 145 certificated repair station
  • Develop and maintain the repair station SMS manual, safety policies, and procedures in alignment with Boeing Enterprise standards
  • Oversee hazard identification, safety reporting, and both reactive and proactive risk assessments
  • Manage incident investigations and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes to ensure timely closure
  • Define, monitor, and report Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and dashboards to senior leadership
  • Coordinate internal safety assurance audits and serve as the primary contact for FAA, NAA, and customer surveillance
  • Design and deliver SMS, human factors, and investigation training programs for technical and leadership staff
  • Integrate SMS into change management processes for new capabilities and locations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Quality or a directly related field
  • 3+ years of experience managing complex projects
  • 3+ years of experience supporting cross-functional teams
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams or major initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with executives or senior leaders
  • Strong ability to lead through influence and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience specifically working with Aviation Safety Management Systems
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Formal SMS implementation training and industry-recognized SMS credentials
  • 10+ years of experience in aviation including FAA Part 21, 121, 135, or 145
  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or enrollment in an A&P program
  • Certifications in incident investigation, Root Cause Corrective Action, or human factors (HFACS)
  • Lead Auditor training for AS9001/AS9110
  • Experience with international regulatory requirements such as EASA
