Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support NASA programs by implementing mission assurance requirements throughout the project life cycle
• Perform supplier surveillance and inspections to ensure compliance with developer procedures and contractual requirements
• Document flight hardware anomalies, corrective actions, and re-verifications in accordance with non-conformance systems
• Participate in production planning, manufacturing flow reviews, and Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews (MRRs/TRRs)
• Monitor contractor quality and safety controls during fabrication, integration, and testing
• Review supplier CDRL documents related to quality assurance and provide technical recommendations
• Perform thorough inspections of printed circuit boards, soldering, ESD controls, and cable/harness fabrication
• Support root cause corrective actions and analyze data to measure supplier success

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of Quality Engineering experience
• Previous experience in the NASA or aerospace industry
• Proficiency with GMIPS for Electronic Boards
• Experience with pre-cap inspection of hybrid microcircuits
• Expertise in inspecting solder joints, conformal coatings, and final workmanship prior to integration and shipment

Preferred Qualifications

• IPC J-STD-001xS (Soldering, Space Addendum) certification
• Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739 series (Staking, Conformal Coating, and Workmanship)
• Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620xS (Crimping, Cables & Wiring)
• Training in ANSI/ESD S20.20 (Electrostatic Discharge)
• Pre-cap inspection methods derived from MIL-STD-883
• Experience with harness work on NASA projects
