About the role
Responsibilities
- Implement mission assurance requirements and perform supplier surveillance throughout the project life cycle for NASA programs
- Ensure flight hardware anomalies, corrective actions, and re-verifications are documented per contractor systems
- Participate in production planning, manufacturing flow reviews, and Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews (MRRs/TRRs)
- Monitor contractor quality and safety controls during fabrication, integration, and testing
- Review supplier CDRL documents related to quality assurance and provide technical recommendations
- Perform thorough inspections, including final instrument "buy-off" reviews and workmanship checks
- Support root cause corrective actions and analyze data to measure supplier success
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of Quality Engineering experience
- Previous experience in the NASA or aerospace industry
- Proficiency with GMIPS for Electronic Boards
- Experience with pre-cap inspection of hybrid microcircuits
- Expertise in inspecting solder joints, conformal coatings, and flight printed wiring assemblies
- Ability to verify connector mates to mission hardware and general workmanship prior to shipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in IPC J-STD-001xS (Soldering, Space Addendum)
- Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739 series (Staking, Conformal Coating, and Workmanship)
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620xS (Crimping, Cables & Wiring)
- Training in ESD Control traceable to ANSI/ESD S20.20
- Experience with harness work on NASA projects and ability to pass NASA Workmanship classes
