Quality Control Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct organoleptic (sensory) evaluations of raw materials, flavor ingredients, and finished products
• Perform routine QC tests such as specific gravity, refractive index, pH, flashpoint, particle size, water activity, and moisture testing
• Maintain detailed and accurate QC records, test results, and batch release documentation
• Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and supplier documentation for compliance
• Approve completed new product batches against prescribed specifications
• Assist with product investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions
• Work closely with Production, R&D teams, co-manufacturers, and the Purchasing team to resolve quality issues
• Support customer requests and coordinate external lab testing
• Manage laboratory instrument calibrations, repairs, and annual maintenance
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized lab environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of experience in the Food and/or Beverage industry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Understanding of FDA, USDA, GMP, and State Food Safety/Quality regulations
• Physical ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
• Comfortable participating in sensory evaluations

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
• Working knowledge of laboratory instruments (pH meters, balances, moisture analyzers, spectrophotometers)
• Experience with data management and quality documentation systems (QMS, LIMS, or ERP platforms)
