Quality Control Chemist

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests using instrumentation and wet benchtop methods on raw materials, in-process, and finished good samples
• Audit finished good production on the packaging floor
• Maintain laboratory equipment and chemical inventory through routine calibrations and standardizations
• Issue holds and disposition materials found to be out of specification
• Perform accurate data entry for all test results every shift
• Follow, maintain, and improve upon Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Uphold strict adherence to safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
• Completion of at least 2 semesters of college-level General Chemistry with corresponding lab work
• Completion of at least 2 semesters of college-level Organic Chemistry with corresponding lab work
• Ability to work rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd week rotations)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, Near IR, UV Vis, and/or GC
• Background knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO, FSSC)
• Experience with SAP
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, TPM, WCM, Lean Manufacturing)
