About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory analysis across raw materials, intermediates, final products, utilities, and wastewater streams
- Record, trend, and analyse test results; escalate and investigate non-conformances
- Maintain and update laboratory documentation and standard operating procedures
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and verification of laboratory equipment
- Maintain laboratory supplies and coordinate servicing with external providers
- Support investigations by providing data insights to resolve quality issues
- Prepare reports and contribute to production KPI tracking
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and production areas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Health & Safety, Environmental and Maintenance
Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Science, Food Science, or a related discipline
- Previous laboratory experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO, BRC, GMP)
- Knowledge of quality and food safety standards (e.g., ISO9001, ISO22000/FSSC22000, BRC, ISO14001)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with laboratory systems such as LIMS or SAP
- Ability to accurately record, analyse, and report data
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in IT skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in assay validation, calibration, or troubleshooting of instruments
- Experience preparing KPI reports or performing trend analysis
- Experience contributing to audits or compliance processes
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives
